Use of AD digestate MBT glass/grit and plastic outputs from MRFs

Project:

We have recently completed (April 2011) a market analysis study on the use of AD digestate MBT glass/grit and plastic outputs from MRFs. The outcomes of the work will form part of WDA’s information base, assisting the Authority in its procurement of a waste treatment infrastructure contract for 1 million tpa of waste.

Solution:

The support provide included an in-depth assessment of existing and under development markets for AD digestate and plastics, including:

  • the identification of what similar facilities are being developed that might compete for similar markets
  • liaising with relevant sector organisations to identify technical developments and industry trends
  • assessment of supply and demand market dynamics
  • the approaching of potential customers to ascertain under what contractual conditions they would be interested in receiving the  material, including tonnages, quality, prices, length of contract, logistics and other contractual arrangements.

Outcome:

The research has provided the client with both a thorough market analysis study as well as a number of concrete leads for securing clients for AD digestate and MBT glass/grit.
