Our Experience
Technical briefing on the legal requirements of running a commercial paper recycling scheme
Client:
ALMO Office
Project:
ALMO Office is a stationary supplier that currently supplies paper and a range of additional stationary products to customers across London. ALMO was interested in setting up a paper recycling collection service for customers, the idea being that the service could be offered as a ‘reverse logistics’ package, i.e. waste collected at the same time as stationary deliveries take place. ALMO approached LRS to help them understand the legal requirements of setting up a paper recycling service.
Solution:
LRS prepared a technical briefing document, which outlined to ALMO all the legal considerations they would need to take into account when setting up a paper recycling service.
The report included guidance on; waste legislation, including ‘Duty of Care’ and the ‘Pre- Treatment Regulations’ as well details of what licences and permits they would require from the Environment Agency in order to ‘carry’ and ‘store’ paper for recycling.
Outcome:
ALMO are currently in the process of preparing a business plan to assist them to decide whether to develop the paper recycling service.
