Our Experience
Stakeholder engagement
Client:
London Waste and Recycling Board (LWaRB).
Project:
LWARB’s objective is to promote and encourage:
- the production of less waste;
- an increase in the proportion of waste that is re-used or recycled; and
- the use of methods of collection, treatment and disposal of waste which are more beneficial to the environment.
Part of LWARB's remit is the allocation of up to £84 million of funding and it is rolling out a three year stakeholder engagement programme to help to achieve its objectives.
LWARB has contracted LRS Consultancy to deliver the stakeholder engagement programme which includes the organisation of high profile conferences and facilitated networking events and a number of smaller workshops, seminars, round tables and one to one meetings with the LWARB officers.
Solution:
In April 2010 our team organised the launch event for the second LWARB Business Plan, which took place at Glaziers Hall in the City of London. The event was attended by over 100 key decision makers from local and regional government; the waste management industry, technology providers and the finance sector.
Delegates were able to hear presentations from James Cleverly, the Mayor’s appointed representative who chairs the Board, other members of the LWARB team including Andy Holdcroft the Chief Operating Officer. Andrew Richmond from the Greater London Authority ran through some slides which addressed the links with the Draft Municipal Waste Management Strategy 2010. The presentations were followed by a chance for the attendees to ask their questions to the panel and meet one to one with the LWARB officers to discuss specifics in relation to projects they have submitted into the expression of interest round or the brokerage model.
LRS’ role in the event was to manage logistics including: delegate, venue and catering, speaker and presentation management.
Outcome:
The event was very highly rated by the attendees in the post-event feedback. The overall average satisfaction was 4.5 out of a maximum score of 5 (where 5 is “excellent”).
Feedback from the LWARB officers was also very positive and they were especially pleased with the way in which LRS set up and managed the pre-booked one to one meetings with clients and prospects wishing to submit a project to the fund.
LRS will be delivering more events with different formats and engaging different groups of stakeholders on behalf of LWARB in the future to help meet their objectives.
