Love Food Hate Waste Campaign with Market Traders and SMEs

Client:

Cory Environmental and WRWA Recycle Western Riverside Campaign

Project:

The objective of the project was to educate and promote to local residents the Love Food Hate Waste Campaign (LFHW).  The ultimate aim was to encourage the residents to reduce the amount of food waste they produce.  The client and WRAP wanted the project to focus on working with market traders and SME’s that sell fresh produce to local residents.

Solution:

LRS designed an eye catching and informative LFHW paper bag that the traders and SME’s could use to distribute their produce to residents (see copy of bag design below).  LRS worked with the four constituent local authorities in the Western Riverside area to locate suitable markets and SME’s.  LRS arranged the transportation and storage of the bags at local libraries and council offices.

LRS staff engaged market traders and SME’s to encourage them to use and hand out the LFHW bags and some other LFHW merchandise provided by WRAP, including recipe cards, and freezer bag clips.

Outcome:

The LRS staff successfully engaged with over 60 market traders and over 70 SME’s.  All were willing to discuss the LFHW Campaign, distribute the bags and other merchandise to local residents.
