Our Experience
London Bridge Business Improvement District
Client:
Team London Bridge
Project:
The London Bridge Business Improvement District in Southwark, London has over 270 businesses and a working population comparable to a small town. Membership of the Business Improvement District (BID) is very diverse with small retail businesses, bars & restaurants, offices and cultural attractions.
One key benefit of forming a BID is in the adoption of cross-business schemes to address common concerns. Members of the BID had expressed a desire to adopt a greener approach to a variety of issues and implementing a collective recycling scheme was the first stage in the area became more sustainable.
Solution:
Between April 2008 and 2009, Team London Bridge (TLB) engaged LRS to deliver business engagement projects. LRS interviewed a wide cross section of members to identify their existing waste and recycling arrangements and gauge their opinions on a collective recycling scheme. The information gathered in this first phase showed the varying requirements of businesses in the area and identified issues that needed to be overcome in order to meet their needs. TLB reengaged LRS to manage the tendering process for contractors for a collective recycling scheme. LRS also worked with TLB to put together a service level agreement to ensure that the selected contractor performed to a consistently high standard throughout the term of the contract.
Outcome:
Team London Bridge has awarded a contract for a collective recycling scheme in the area which will help a wide range of businesses operate in a more sustainable way.
