Flats above shops inventory

London Borough of Bexley

Project:

The London Borough of Bexley wanted to improve the provision of recycling services to its estimated 1,800 flats above shops.  Each flat is unique and an inventory was the best way for the borough to assess the most appropriate waste and recycling services.   

Solution:

LRS designed a flats above shops inventory form based around the Bexley recycling services and trained two officers to undertake the survey work.  The inventory gathered information on:

  • Waste and recycling collection points
  • Alternative storage sites
  • Access for crews and any issues
  • Location for Location for communal bins
  • Details of commercial premises located below flats i.e. name, type of business
  • Nearest bring sites to flats

Outcome:

A database of the information gathered for each property with accompanying photographs was provided to Bexley.  The database is being used by Bexley to roll out appropriate recycling services and communications to residents living in flats above shops.
