Rapid growth as Anthesis Group buys resource experts LRS Consultancy

Anthesis Group has acquired resource efficiency and supply chain consulting firm LRS Consultancy Ltd (LRS), its sixth acquisition in 18 months.

The acquisition means Anthesis can now provide an end to end sustainability service to clients, with the introduction of waste treatment, recycling and resource management skills from the LRS team. This latest move strengthens the company’s presence in the UK, moving it further towards its ambition to become the ‘leading global sustainability specialist firm’.

LRS, a leading specialist environmental consultancy in the UK, specialises in materials resource efficiency and the development of the circular materials economy, with the aim of future-proofing production and consumption.

Clients are varied across the supply chain, including Tesco, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Nestlé, Akzo Nobel, Unilever, Costa, CIPS, Veolia, Viridor and SITA, as well as local and national government organisations.

Anthesis recently developed the groundbreaking Tesco Suppliers Network, and the two companies believe there is a natural synergy in terms of client base and skills.

Stuart McLachlan, CEO of Anthesis Group said: “LRS is a great fit for the Anthesis Group, and I am pleased to be able to add their extremely strong portfolio of resource efficiency and sustainable supply chain work to our existing services.  Collectively, our businesses have over 20 years of experience and we are excellently placed to meet the changing needs of our clients as they embrace the opportunities of the circular economy by delivering end to end sustainability solutions. Our market will continue to grow when clients feel the value in the work we deliver, by having the right skills in the right places to make exciting things happen, and I’m looking forward to the opportunities that the LRS team brings.”

Anthesis Group has been growing fast, since its inception 18 months ago, and now has 130 people across Europe, USA, Asia and the Middle East, as well as boasting an impressive client base. The company aims to fill a gap in the market by combining the reassurance of high-end strategy consultancy with the more personal approach of small, boutique sustainability firms. Their combination of consulting, managed services and technology skills across a global platform positions them well as the market looks for greater delivery and less pure advisory work.

Since it started trading, Anthesis has acquired sustainability consultancies Best Foot Forward, UMR, Caleb, SecondNature, M4C and now LRS – giving it a strong multi skilled delivery team across six countries.  Anthesis has realised 50% of its growth from acquisitions and 50% from organic growth.

Dee Moloney, previously Managing Director of LRS and newly appointed Director at Anthesis LRS commented: “We have watched the emergence of Anthesis with great interest and are excited by their ambition and vision. It’s a journey that we are delighted to now be a part of, and with global reach and diversity of expertise we look forward to extending the value we can offer our clients. The changing market dynamics and needs of clients cannot be ignored and we are looking forward to working with the Anthesis team to realise the market potential for greater efficiency in the supply chain and meeting demand for sustainable products and business models.”
